Francesco Collavino graduated in Photography, Cinema and Video Image from the State Institute of Art of Udine (IT). He later deepened his training in the choreographic field, studying with Amphaymany Pi Keohavong (Momix) and attending programmes in Limón, Graham and Release techniques at The Place in London.
In 2012, he obtained the Diplôme d'Études Chorégraphiques in contemporary dance at the Paris Conservatory. In the same year, he co-founded in Göteborg (SE) the artistic collective Ba.Bau.Corp., dedicated to choreographic research and multimedia practices.
In parallel, he continued his training with leading companies across Paris, London, Gothenburg and Brussels, including Ultima Vez, Hofesh Shechter Company, Carolyn Carlson, Peeping Tom, Jasmin Vardimon, Arkadi Zaides, Iris Erez, Christine Gouzelis and Laly Aiguadé, among others.
In Italy, he dances for several companies, including Abbondanza/Bertoni, Giovanni Di Cicco, Balletto Civile, MK and Virgilio Sieni, and works with theatres such as Teatro dell’Opera di Genova and Teatro La Fenice in Venice, under the direction of, among others, Luca Ronconi, Davide Livermore and Robert Carsen.
As a choreographer, he is produced by CSS Teatro Stabile di Innovazione del Friuli Venezia Giulia and ERT Emilia-Romagna Teatro Fondazione.
Since 2021/2022, he has been working at IUAV University of Venice within the Master’s Degree Programme in Theatre and Performing Arts, in the curriculum in Theatre and Choreographic Studies, under the guidance of Professor Stefano Tomassini. During these years, he has collaborated with Michela Lucenti, Michele di Stefano, Roberta Mosca, Virgilio Sieni, Marcos Morau, Silvia Rampelli and Jacopo Jenna.
Since 2023, he has been Artistic Director of ULTRA Screendance Festival.
He currently lives in Porto, continuing to work between Italy and Portugal.
